Karakoram International University, Gilgit-Baltistan Hunza Campus (KIU) was Announced in 2014, during the visit of the Chancellor of KIU and The President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Mr. Mamnoon Hussain. The announcement was made to establish KIU Hunza Campus under the HEC’s vision 2025 to provide access to Higher Education at the district level. The campus started its academic programs in 2017, and since then, it has been dedicated to facilitating higher education services to the people of the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
The primary aim of KIU Hunza Campus is to provide quality education with its top-tier faculty. The campus aims to provide high-quality education, progressive research in the fields of Development Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Business Management, and Educational Development. At present, KIU Hunza Campus is offering ten programs in four departments. The campus is committed to providing excellent physical and IT infrastructure, collaborating with national & international partners, and making the campus a better place to study, work, and live.
KIU Hunza Campus is committed to promoting research and innovation in various fields. The campus has state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment & HEC Smart Classroom, and its faculty members are actively involved in research activities. The campus also encourages its students to participate in research activities and provides them with the necessary resources and guidance.
In addition to providing quality education, KIU Hunza Campus is committed to the development of the physical and IT infrastructure. The campus has modern classrooms, well-equipped library and computer labs.
The campus also has a Karakorum Hospitality & Tourism Services Center under which a facility of Hotel & Training Institute is working to promote quality services & promotes sustainable Tourism in the region.

The campus has signed MoUs with various national and international organizations to promote research and academic activities. The campus also invites guest speakers and experts to share their knowledge and experience with its students and faculty members.
