Introduction
The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management is offering one of the flagship
programs at the KIU Hunza campus, which will produce professionals to cater to the market’s
needs of the hospitality sector. This degree program is one of the first programs of its kind in the
entire region.
Tourism and hospitality industry is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing industries,
generating significant economic benefits and job opportunities worldwide. As a result, there is a
growing demand for professionals who have the skills and knowledge to manage and operate
tourism and hospitality-related business. Tourism and hospitality degree programs will equip
students with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the dynamic and growing
tourism and hospitality industry. The programs provide students with a comprehensive
understanding of the overall industry, including its history, trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Graduates of these programs are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to work in a
variety of roles, in tourism and hospitality businesses. This program is to develop the capacity of
the different tiers of the human resource of the region in the areas of hospitality and tourism
management. Overall, the program tourism and hospitality management will provide students
with the skills and knowledge to succeed in this dynamic and growing industry, as well as to
generate sustainable tourism products and services out of unique natural resources that this
region offers comprising glaciers, rivers, pastures, grassland, forests, minerals, wildlife, and
biodiversity in fauna and flora.

Objectives

o To produce highly competent, responsible, and hospitable graduates, entrepreneurs,
and social scientists.
o To create, capture and disseminate knowledge related to tourism and hospitality
management in a localized context.
o To provide an opportunity for the students to explore and learn tourism and hospitality
management practices by adopting a standardized education curriculum.
o To bring academia and practitioners on a single platform by involving them in joint
research projects, seminars, exhibitions and other developmental projects.
